A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from noon today to 7 p.m. EST Monday for the southern Adirondacks, Lake George-Saratoga Region, upper Hudson Valley and southern Vermont.
A complex storm system continues to approach the northeast from the Great Lakes region and Midwest. One low pressure system will move into the eastern Great Lakes Sunday night while a secondary low pressure area will develop near Connecticut Monday morning. The new system will rapidly move northeast into the Gulf of Maine Monday afternoon. The storms will impact the area Sunday night and Monday.
A significant accumulation of snow and sleet is expected in the southern Adirondacks, Lake George-northern Saratoga region and southern Vermont. Snow and sleet accumulations of 6 to 12 inches will occur by late afternoon Monday. There also may be a light coating of ice ranging from a few hundredths to a tenth of an inch.
Northwest winds will increase by Monday afternoon with Frequent gusts exceeding 30 mph ... resulting in some blowing and drifting of the snow. Some power outages may also occur.
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice are expected. Strong winds are also possible. This will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
